Contest theme: “Languages and Cultures through the Language of Photography” Submission instructions 1- Submission is open between 14 January - 7 February 2012. 2- Photo submission is now closed. 3- A contestant can submit a maximum of 3 photos. 4- The acceptable version of photos is .jpg and each entry must be within 4 MB size limit. 5- Required information (in the email body): Name of the contestant, email address, country of residence, nationality, title for each photo. A brief description, not more than 50 words, for each photo is optional. If more than one photo are submitted, file names should be included with each photo title and optional description.

The first, second, third and fourth prizewinners will be awarded gift cards of USD 500, SEK 1000, USD 100 and USD 75, respectively, at some online stores or in other forms. The details about the gift cards is to be appeared. The fifth prizewinner will be awarded a gift voucher of GBP 25 with free shipment at Jack the Hat Photographic. Eligibility for the competition 1- This is an international photo contest and open for all nationalities. Anyone can participate in the competition except the executive committee members of the host organization and the jury board members. 2- The photos must be taken by the contestants. The contestants must be the owner of the copyright of all photos submitted. 3- Both color and black & white photos are acceptable. 4- The photos must NOT be digitally altered, however, minor editing to achieve desirable color balance and sharpness, etc. are acceptable. 5- High dynamic range (HDR) images and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable. 6- Nudity is NOT allowed and NO upsetting images to any culture or group is allowed. 7- Do NOT include your name, caption or title of the image or watermark in the picture (not within the frame or in the picture itself). These images will not be eligible for the contest.
1- The contest will run on www.motherlanguageday.org from January 14 to February 7, 2012. Closing date for the entries is midnight on February 7, 2012. 2- There is no contest entry fee. 3- The winners will be announced through the photo contest website on 21 February, the International Mother Language Day, 2012 and notified by email within 29th February, 2012. 4- The winners will be decided by a jury of judges. The judges' decision is final. 5- All taxes, shipment costs and other fees (if any) not explicitly stated with the prize description, are the sole responsibility of the winners. The organizers do not take liability of currency exchange rate where applicable. 6- No cash or other substitution, or transfer of prize is allowed. However, the photo contest organizers reserve the right to substitute a prize with another of comparable or greater value. 7- The entrants will retain copyright in their submitted photos. However, the photo contest organizers will have the right to use, edit and publish each entry (the photographer's name will always be credited to) in the corresponding websites or other media for exhibition, promotion and news purposes. 8- The contest organizers do not accept any liability for publication of the unlawfully reproduced photos. 9- The contest, prizes and winning of such prizes are void where prohibited by law. The contestant is solely responsible to know if they are subject to any relevant local, or other laws. The organizers do not take any such responsibility. 10- Contest organizers reserve the right at any time to cancel, modify, suspend or supersede the competition. 11- Contest organizers reserve the right to amend or change the contest rules, terms and conditions. Privacy The contestants privacy are respected. The personal data of the contestants will not be sold, rented or exchanged. However, the contest winners names and nationalities could be made public through the contest website or other media. If required, some extend of the personal data of the prizewinners could have been shared with the related parties for the prize distribution purposes, however, should this be required, will be done with prior consent of the individuals. Other than this, if any contest entry is used for exhibition, news or promotion purposes, the photographers' name and nationalities could have been published with the photograph. |
